Problematizing English-Medium Instruction in Taiwanese Universities

Priority is given to NTHU faculty, but also open to faculty from other universities and those who are interested in EMI related topics.

👉工作坊簡介 Workshop Introduction

聚焦於台灣 EMI(全英語授課)的政策與課堂落差,探討教師如何在學科需求、學生參與與制度壓力間找到平衡。兩位曾獲 Fulbright EMI 獎助金 的學者將引導參與者反思與交流,並透過課程設計挑戰,發展更具包容性與批判意識的 EMI 教學策略。

This workshop addresses the gap between EMI policies and classroom realities in Taiwan's universities. Facilitated by two former Fulbright EMI awardees, it invites faculty to reflect, share, and engage in a course design challenge that fosters inclusive and critically informed EMI practices.

🎯學習收穫  What You Will Gain

老師們將透過同儕交流與課程設計挑戰,學習如何將理論轉化為具情境感的 EMI 教學技巧。重點包括:

•    發展 包容性 的課堂設計
•    培養 批判意識 的 EMI 教學觀
•    回應不同學科文化與語言多樣性的教學方法

Participants will engage in peer dialogue and a collaborative course design challenge to transform theory into practice. Key takeaways include:
•    Designing inclusive EMI classrooms
•    Building critical awareness in pedagogy
•    Developing discipline-responsive approaches for diverse academic contexts
